The villa, built on the ruins of an ancient chapel dedicated to San Michele, today belongs to the Axel Munthe Foundation and is a museum. Alternatively, you can enjoy a breathtaking experience on the chairlift that will take you to the top of Monte Solaro.
Stop at a local restaurant and sample a delicious light lunch. After lunch, reach the center and visit the "piazzetta" of Capri. Officially known as Piazza Umberto I, the Piazzetta of Capri is "the little theater of the world", as the English writer Norman Douglas defined it. With its fascinating bell tower (the Capri version of Big Ben), in the 1950s, the Piazzetta was the official headquarters of the Italian dolce vita, especially during the summer season when the international jet-set and world-famous people populated it. Among many, it was Jacqueline Kennedy, Rita Hayworth, Frank Sinatra who gave the island of Capri their unmistakable style.
From this small square, you can walk along the narrow streets of Capri, full of famous national and international brand shops, as well as traditional artisan shops.
